Registering as a supplier

No. Registration on the CSD makes your company eligible to participate in IDFC procurement processes, but it does not guarantee that you will receive quotation requests or invitations to tender. Suppliers should monitor the IDFC Procurement Portal and other relevant procurement portals for advertised opportunities.

Finding opportunities

IDFC procures goods, services and works through established procurement mechanisms, primarily:

  • Open tender processes; or
  • Requests for quotations (RFQs) or calls for quotes.

The procurement method used depends on the nature and value of the requirement.

RFQs (requests for quotation) are used for smaller, simpler purchases and are listed under RFQs. Tenders (RFPs, ITTs, RFIs and EOIs) are formal, open bidding processes and are listed under Tenders.

Briefings and bidding

Some tenders and RFQs require you to attend a briefing session or site visit before you bid. If a briefing is compulsory and you do not attend, your bid is disqualified. The date, venue or online meeting link is on the tender page, where you can also add it to your calendar.

Follow the submission details on the bid document. Bids are usually hand-delivered to the tender box at Ithala Trade Centre, 29 Canal Quay, Point, Durban. Some RFQs may be emailed to [email protected] when the RFQ says so.

Changes to closing dates, briefings, documents or requirements are issued as addenda. They appear on the tender's own page and on the Addenda & Clarifications page. Check both before you submit.

After a tender closes

For formal tenders (RFP, ITT, RFI and EOI), the signed tender opening register is published under Tender Results after the tender closes. RFQs do not have a published opening register.

Results are published under Tender Results, Awarded, and on the tender page: first an intention to award, with the date by which objections must be lodged, then the award. If a tender is not awarded, the notice gives the reason.
